If you can hear “Yanny”, cover your ears to hear the low frequencies. Then you can hear “Laurel.” For now I just hear Yaurel because my ears are being dumb.

It's both. Sounds like Yanel, Hehe. welcome to medical transcription (21 years). You process info first visually (eyes) and auditory (ears) second - unless you are visually impaired and trained yourself to trust only your ears and disregard everything else, including other ppl's input. Once you hear someone else has heard something and you listen your ears will morph it unless you concentrate very hard and even then, it's been corrupted by what someone else thinks. They should not lead with this or that, just listen objectively. But the subjective has been placed before you listened. Results are invalid. This is why voice recognition software is a bust as far as the medical record goes and one of the reasons you have to have ppl fixing it, but it's harder than straight transcription and less accurate, your ears are tainted by reading the incorrect mess that voice recognition creates. you'd think doctors would already know this. But they "believe" it saves them money and that is more important than some patient's accurate medical record, which most healthcare workers will tell you right now is unreliable and full of errors and useless information that impedes continuity of care. Everyone should always get a copy of your record, like at an office visit, your visit note; if in a hospital you want the admit report H&P, any consults, operative report if there is one, might be radiology/imaging/X-ray, and your discharge summary. There might be progress notes or nurses notes. Keep your record at home. And request corrections to your medical record or get a lawyer. Corrections to your record won't fix the problem, just your record that one time if they do it. It's the process that is flawed. And maybe, just maybe, when you are seen by a doctor, nurse practitioner, or PA they might spend more time looking at you than the laptop and entering data....maybe. After all, you pay for the visit for a thorough exam and assessment and a plan going forward, not to watch them type on a laptop.
*I hear "What color is this dress?"*
Not only do I hear "laurel", I can't even _make_ myself hear "yanni". This reminds me of the spinning ballerina video, (and others like it). Which way is she spinning? Well, in that case, it's a CGI, so she isn't "spinning" at all. But at least I can make myself perceive her spinning clockwise or counterclockwise at will. It was difficult at first, but now I can even see her as oscillating back and forth, never completing a turn. What's amazing about this is how phonetically different the words are, and how totally convinced people are that it is one or the other. I have to believe this has a lot to do with the fact that it is synthetic speech. These words are not mechanically made by mouth parts. I'll bet that no matter how many times a researcher may try, this kind of disagreement will not be observed using real speech. In any case, this is a remarkable discovery about human perception.

So, originally, I watched this video, & all I could hear was Yanny, & it made me wonder how people were able to hear Laurel. Possibly, the power of suggestion.... Maybe, low-pitched tones, or subliminal messages that only some people &/or types of thinkers can understand or dicifer. Maybe, one has to gear their mind towards the word they want to hear, or they just hear which ever word they heard first..... All, theories and suggestions. However, what I do know is, when I originally watched this video, all I could hear was, "Yanny". Then, I watched THIS video clip [Link provided here]: https://youtu.be/2p4MpT-VgSo Now, when I came back & watched this original video, all I hear is, "Laurel". Tell me what you get...
U know those people who pull over AFTER the firetruck has passed? Those are the morons that hear Yanny.

Wow! It turns out that if you get three devices together, and play one normally, one at the lowest playback speed of 0.25x, and one at the highest of 2x, you hear whichever word you heard but *backwards*! So “laurel” goes from law-ruhl to roughly lurr-all, and “yanny” changes from yah-nee to something like een-ahee (not sure how to write it). You have to start all three at *exactly* the same time so it’s easiest with a person per device. It took us umpteen attempts to nail it, after we first heard it by accident. And we even did it with a kid (hears “yanny”) and an older adult (hears “laurel”); usually both would each hear their own word reversed, but a couple of times one did and the other dint, and once both heard only the reverse of yanny. Really weird!

Wow this is crazy, because I’ve been hearing yanny all this time and I would get mad at people who were hearing different. I came back to the the video and all I could hear is laurel which is weird because I listen to both on my iPhone. The same distance and everything nothing changed , so still in shock lol.

I used to heard Yanni the first time that I heard it, but then the next they I got sick. That day I heard the audio again and I started to heard Laurel, I’m still a little sick so I still heard Laurel again and again. I think is because now that I’m sick my hearing frequency is lower... I don’t really know, but the thing that I do know is that I definitely heard Laurel.

I'm 15 and i hear Laurel???😂😂
